1100e anniversaire de la Normandie

Only in french

In the company of our guide, take this recreational walk through the city’s old back streets and discover the rich history of the ducal city, revisited and illustrated by numerous funny or moving playlets. Then, as you travel through the centuries that have passed since the Duchy’s foundation, the paving stones become a stage, and you embark upon an astounding tour of our most majestic monuments, where theatre and history are intertwined.

William the Conqueror Trail

Starts 9pm, Thursdays and Saturdays
Some things that are invisible in broad daylight come out at night, the time for improbable meetings. Witnesses to the history of the city, both anonymous and famous, will be keen to meet you and take you to the heart of the mystery that reigns in the city at this hour. The figure of William the Conqueror looms large over the tour, so the doors to his last place of residence, the Men’s Abbey, will be open to us.

Queen Matilda Trail

Wednesdays and Fridays, starts 9pm
The tour starts at the Ladies’ Abbey in the ideal atmosphere of the early evening. During your voyage, you’ll be shown around by the mischievous guardian’s son, who will reveal a few of the abbey’s most inaccessible places to you. You will also come across some more illustrious characters who have made their mark on the duchy’s history, such as Charlotte Corday reading Corneille. Then it will be time to set off again on your journey through time and its secrets, towards other discoveries in the heart of the ducal city.

Dramatised Walk at the Castle : Fief of the Conqueror
